Scholarship Dinner Party
We have proudly partnered with Crappie Anglers of Texas, Crappie Masters, and Marion County to bring you the Brian Sowers Legacy Crappie Tournament & Tackle Box Scholarship Dinner, with a Kids Fishing Event and much more!
Those of us the crappie fishing world can still hear Brian’s heart and his key phrase “give a kid a tackle box, not an X box!”
Brian, we are going to do just that! Your legacy lives strong and we are excited to honor you in this legacy tournament, scholarship dinner event, and kids fishing tournament.
If you didn't have the opportunity to know Brian, you will feel much of who he was in this weekend of events. See the Brian Sowers Legacy page on this site. For the anglers who knew him, we encourage you to share all he meant to you, and how he impacted your life. His family will be there with us all weekend to share in this great event.
Let's get it on!
The scholarship dinner will be held at the Jefferson Institute and will raise funds for the Brian Sowers Tackle Box Scholarship Fund benefiting the students of Jefferson ISD. This dinner event will feature a catered meal of the best chicken fried steak and fixings you’ve ever put in your mouth from 1852 on Austin, fun and entertaining live music by Second Childhood, full cash bar, raffles of guns and other great items, split the pot, door prizes, and more. You do not want to miss this party with a purpose in honoring Brian Sowers and his love for the next generation!
The Crappie tournament will be held on Lake O the Pines and consists of professional and amateur divisions. Both divisions are 100% payout plus money raised by sponsorships. Both divisions pay one in five. This will be a nice purse for a very low entry fee. We want everyone to be able to participate! This is going to be a fun tournament! Please find all the details including entry fees, rules, and division qualifications on the Tournament Registration page.
The Free Kids Fishing Event will be held at Hurricane Park on Lake O the Pines. Registration will begin at 8am. The first 100 children to arrive will receive a free rod and reel, and tackle box. All bait is provided, and there will be trophies for 1st – 3rd place in four age groups. The Shriner clowns will be here for the fun too! Find all the details on the Kids Fish Registration page.
FREE FOR EVERYONE Fish Fry and Big Weigh in Event will be held at the Jefferson Stadium parking lot located at 1129-1199 N. Cass Street beginning at 1:00pm. We have fryers and fryers ready to serve up the best fried fish there is… Crappie! Bring your family and friends from near and far and join us for fried fish, live music, vendors, raffles of over $10,000 in prizes, Shriners clowns, and to watch the tournament anglers come in and weigh their catch!
It’s going to be an exciting weekend full of fun honoring Brian Sowers in giving children a “Tackle Box, not an X Box”, sharing memories, and making new ones, as Brain Sowers Legacy fishes on!
We look forward to seeing you there!
